Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced the latest release in its ongoing series highlighting Japanese craft whisky, confirming that “Single Malt Tsunuki JAL Exclusive 2025” will be offered in limited quantities via international inflight sales from 1 January 2026.
JAL describes this bottling as the 13th whisky in its “selected by JAL” programme, an initiative intended to help travellers discover different regions of Japan through whiskies produced across the country. The whisky was developed by Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd., the producer behind Mars Tsunuki Distillery in Kagoshima Prefecture.
In its product description, JAL says the release is a single malt whisky matured for five years in casks traditionally used for aging plum wine. The airline notes that this maturation is intended to balance malt character with the sweetness and acidity associated with plum wine casks. JAL’s official tasting description references a floral, refreshing aroma and fruit notes including apricot and plum on the palate.
Availability and purchase details
JAL states the whisky will be available to JAL international First and Business Class passengers, with a listed price of JPY 20,000 and a purchase limit of one bottle per person per flight. The airline also notes that resale and commercial use are prohibited, and that the product may sell out or be withdrawn without notice.
For passengers planning ahead, JAL lists advance ordering windows via its inflight sales pre-order service, including ordering from late December for January departures and from late January for February departures, subject to the airline’s terms and availability.
