The Dalmore Cask Curation Series – Red Wine Cask Edition

The Dalmore has launched a new chapter in its ultra limited Cask Curation Series with The Red Wine Cask Edition – a three-bottle set of 24, 34 and 43 year old single malts, each finished in fresh 2023 Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape casks and limited to just 150 sets worldwide.

Building on The Sherry Edition (2023, with González Byass) and The Port Edition (2024, with Graham’s), this release takes the series fully into Rhône red wine territory. Each whisky in the trio has undergone a final maturation in fresh 2023 Mont‑Redon casks, chosen to bring the estate’s signature mix of ripe fruit, savoury depth and spice into The Dalmore’s characteristically rich, citrus and chocolate led house style.

Only 150 sets of the Red Wine Cask Edition will be made available worldwide, each priced at £36,100 (approx. $44,450). Bottlings are presented at around 40–41% ABV (40.7%, 40.5% and 40.3% respectively), with natural colour and no chill‑filtration, underlining the collection’s appeal to serious collectors who expect minimal intervention at this level.

Presentation is as carefully curated as the casks. All three bottles sit inside a hand crafted travel inspired case by Italian atelier AB Florence, finished in a bold lapis blue that nods both to Rhône grape skins and to the long journey the casks have taken from southern France to the Highlands. The design leans into The Dalmore’s long‑running narrative about cask journeys and cross category partnerships, positioning the set as a piece of functional art as much as a whisky release.

Three ages, one red‑wine thread

While full technical details of the base maturations remain tightly curated, The Dalmore is framing the trio as an exploration of how Mont‑Redon’s Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape profile plays out across different age statements:

  • The 24‑year‑old leads with brighter fruit and honeyed sweetness, with red berries and citrus playing against creamy dessert notes.
  • The 34‑year‑old is positioned as the most refined of the three, layering forest fruit and subtle florals over vanilla, with a finish that tips into warm honey, white chocolate and gentle spice.
  • The 43‑year‑old is described as the most complex and contemplative, with aromas of dried fruits, marmalade and polished leather, moving into dark berries, chocolate and tropical sweetness on the palate, before a long, cocoa‑ and espresso‑tinged finish

All three are framed as showcasing The Dalmore’s long running focus on cask selection and finishing, a philosophy the distillery traces back more than 150 years, long before “cask curation” became the modern marketing term of choice.

Context for Collectors

At a price point above £36k per set and with only 150 sets worldwide, The Red Wine Cask Edition sits firmly in the trophy‑collection space – aimed at top‑tier private clients, high‑end retailers and prestige accounts, rather than general enthusiasts. It also continues a strategy where The Dalmore uses tiny‑run, high‑age collections to explore specific cask partnerships in depth, echoing recent industry moves where Scotch houses are collaborating tightly with individual châteaux, bodegas or quintas rather than generic “wine cask” sourcing.

Availability of The Dalmore Cask Curation Series will be extremely limited and likely routed via select luxury partners and The Dalmore’s own prestige channels.
