Indian Whisky Goes Premium: Tilaknagar Industries Unveils ‘Seven Islands’ Indo‑Scottish Pure Malt

Seven Islands Pure Malt Whisky – Indo-Scottish Premium Blend

India’s spirits giant Tilaknagar Industries Ltd, long known for its brandy flagship Mansion House, has made its most decisive entry into whisky to date with the launch of Seven Islands Pure Malt. The new 42.8% ABV blended malt brings together two Indian single malts (from the Himalayan foothills and the Vindhyan range) with two Scottish single malts (from Speyside & Lowlands).

Priced at approx INR 5,200 (~US $59), Seven Islands is positioned to capture India’s fast‑growing premium whisky segment — the country already accounts for about 66 % of global spirits consumption.  According to Sanaya Dahanukar of Tilaknagar, “With Seven Islands, we wanted to bring a new perspective and style to Indian whisky,” emphasising both domestic heritage and international aspirations.  The bottle design reflects the concept: a V‑cut neck symbolizes the convergence of Indian and Scottish malts, while cartographic lines map Mumbai’s original seven‑island geography.  The profile is described as having tropical fruits, dried nuts, soft spice and a creamy texture with a hint of smoke — bridging Indian flavor profiles with Scottish malt tradition.

This move signifies that Tilaknagar sees whisky not just as an adjunct to its brandy business, but as a core growth driver in its portfolio.  For the global whisky observer, it underlines that the “rest of world” growth story remains alive — and that hybrid styles (Indo‑Scottish in this case) may become a new category to watch.
