Isle of Raasay Distillery Earns Platinum Honours for Cask Strength Single Malt

The Isle of Raasay Distillery has achieved its highest international recognition to date, earning a Platinum Award and a remarkable 99 / 100 score for its Cask Strength Single Malt at a leading global spirits competition.

Opened in 2017 on the small Hebridean island off Skye, Raasay has built a reputation for its innovative use of peated and unpeated spirit styles matured in sherry, bourbon and chinkapin oak casks. This award cements its place among Scotland’s rising stars.

Co-founder Alasdair Day said,

“To achieve a Platinum rating for our Cask Strength expression is beyond our expectations. It reflects the care our team puts into every barrel and every bottle on Raasay.”

The winning whisky is bottled at 59.6 % ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour, highlighting a vibrant balance of smoke, honey and stone fruit. It is available directly through the distillery’s online store and select specialist retailers.

For whisky.directory readers, the recognition is a reminder that Scotland’s new generation island distilleries can stand toe to toe with the country’s long established names when craft and authenticity lead the way.
